Prank your kids hard: Looks-real news story bans Internet for kids

New blog about Prank your kids hard: Looks-real news story bans Internet for kids

Hearts were broken and lives were crushed Saturday morning, as “the BBC” announced a total internet ban for those under 13 years of age.

The ban, which includes all forms of internet access “has been introduced following extensive research by the Department of Child Studies at the University of York,” according to the (faux) British Broadcasting Company. “It found that 98% of under 13s had become addicted to their internet devices, resulting in poor social skills, lack of sleep and various health problems.”

A screenshot of the shocking article:

“If I can’t play Minecraft, watch Stampey videos or Snapchat my friends, my life is pretty much over,” 9-year-old Jake Smith is quoted as whining. “Banning children from going online is really stupid and I’m thinking of setting up my own version of the internet called ‘KidWeb’. It’ll be just like the regular internet but adults won’t be allowed.”

And a peek at how one parent’s son and daughter reacted when they were shown the life-altering news:

Reddit user Mrsmcd85 decided to show her two kids the article early this morning. “Daughter is hiding under blanket crying and my son….well, you can just see his expression,” she captioned the resulting image.

Did you see his face?! If you’ve ever doubted just how much kids love their electronics, look again.

kids april fools pranks

All the drama has some of us older folks trying to imagine what would have crushed us this hard when we were young.

“Man, the internet was barely even a thing when I was 13,” one person commented. “I guess the equivalent would have been if the government had decided to ban…pogs?”

Other suggestions included CDs, plain-old television, or even Atari — but for me it most certainly would have been the telephone. Not cell phone, of course, but at least our home phone was cordless! That thing was only lifeline to friends outside of school.

Thankfully, there’s no true need for the web-loving kids of the world to freak.

This morning I got my husband by texting him an old photo of the basement flooding with an, “OMG NOT AGAIN!” caption. The kids thought it was hilarious. Then, my youngest texted his grandma and said we got her a new puppy. I don’t know why she fell for it, but she sure did!
